It’s Electric!

Lynnes Nissan of Stanhope, N.J. will be participating in two community events, providing information about the cutting edge technology of the electrically powered Nissan Leaf.

On April 17 – 19, Warren County Community College is hosting the second annual Earth Week event. Mike Demko and Maria Farris from Lynnes Nissan will be there to answer any questions about the Nissan Leaf and discuss the future of electric vehicles with all attendants. Hyundai Hope on Wheels gives a heartfelt thanks to Lynnes Hyundai for their generous donation to the organization in 2011. Lynnes knows that pediatric cancer is an important health issue that affects far too many children in the U.S. each year.  At a time when they just want to be kids, the amazing youngsters are forced to deal with the very grown up disease.  Hyundai Hope on Wheels has been committed to finding a cure for childhood cancer since 1998.

With the assistance of Lynnes’ generous donation, Hyundai Hope on Wheels is able to award research grants to institutions across the US, which are doing life-saving work.  To meet the doctors and to learn more about their specific research projects, please go to www.HyundaiHopeonWheels.org. Stanhope — When a member of the Lynnes Automotive family lost his wife to a brain aneurism, he was left with two small daughters and a difficult decision: what now to do with the young girls while he worked two jobs to support them. With no family in the area and no one to turn to, his options were limited. After hearing about her co-worker’s tragic and difficult situation, longtime Lynnes West Internet Manager Mary Correa had an inspirational idea that would allow the entire Lynnes family to help carry the burden. “This was someone who needed our help,” Ms. Correa said.

Lynnes spends roughly $350 buying lunch for their employees every Saturday at their two dealerships in Stanhope and Bloomfield. Ms. Correa approached Vice President Julie Tozzo and suggested that Lynnes put the weekly lunch budget towards a babysitter and other expenses for the co-worker’s two daughters. Ms. Tozzo readily agreed to support her employee in need.

But what to do with the hungry employees? Ms. Correa and her Bloomfield counterpart, Stella Kelly, volunteer each week to cook for the hundreds of employees that work Saturdays at the two dealerships. A typical Friday night goes something like this for the generous women: home from work by 7 p.m., 5-7 hours in the kitchen preparing food, and then back to the dealership by 9 a.m. to deliver the meals to co-workers. This sacrifice is a testament to the culture of Lynnes Automotive Group, an organization that puts relationships first.

“Who knows what those two little girls are going to become?” replied Ms. Correa when asked why she offers her time so selflessly.

A Special Congratulations to  Rosemarie Veliz, this year’s recipient of the Annual Lynnes Deserving Family Car Giveaway.  Mrs. Veliz was nominated by her daughter Tierney Veliz for her selfless, decades-long dedication to her son Chase’s battle with Hunter Syndrome.  Lynnes recognizes the personal sacrifices made by Mrs. Veliz, Tierney, and the other members of the Veliz family to ensure Chase’s comfort and well-being.

We hope that the gift of a vehicle will help to alleviate the financial and emotional burden placed on the Veliz family by this struggle.
